Team OC Staff members are professionally trained and certified in the areas of Safety, First Aid & CPR. Many of our staff members have or are working toward bachelors or masters degrees in related fields such as education.
In addition our T&T Staff holds specialized USA Gymnastics certifications in coaching and risk management. These certifications include safety; early childhood development; physical education and coaching; as well as national judges' certifications. Our T&T staff members participate regularly in continuing education and training specifically for trampoline and tumbling.
Members of our well accomplished T&T Staff also hold positions on USA Gymnastics State Administrative Boards and mentoring programs throughout Southern California.
Danita Barnard Trampoline Program Director and Head Team Coach
Danita Barnard brings a new dimension to Team OC as our Trampoline and Power Tumbling Director. Her experience in the gymnastics field spans many years and many facets of the sport.
Her undergraduate studies in Physical Education and Coaching at California State University Long Beach prepared her to teach elementary physical education and become a high school varsity gymnastics coach. As a USAG professional member since 1981, she has spent numerous years in sports management and facility operations in addition to coaching competitive Jr. Olympic artistic gymnastics and trampoline.
Her focus over the past decade has been dedicated to coaching trampoline and power tumbling. During this time she has coached numerous State, Regional and National Champions and has had athletes compete for spots on the USA National Teams and the 2007 USA Tumbling and Trampoline World Championship Teams. Danita is currently coach of a 2007 World Age Group Championships USA Team Member and the 2008 Pan American Championships Power Tumbling Champion and Double-Mini Trampoline bronze medalist in the Junior age group division.
Danita has also given many years of volunteer time to promote the continued growth of gymnastics in Southern California. She has held positions on the Southern California Women's State Administrative Committee and the USAG Elite Athlete Support Committee. She currently serves as the Southern California USAG Tumbling & Trampoline State Chair.
As an athlete, Andy competed internationally for several years. He was a member if the Polish National Trampoline Team and was the first athlete from his country to compete at the highest international level. To date he is still the most successful Polish athlete to have competed at the European Championships, World Championships and World Cup events. Until his retirement he was ranked among the top ten in the World Rankings.
After retiring, Andy traveled the world with the Polish National Circus where he met his wife, Jola, who is also a Team OC Gymnastics Team coach. In 2000, Andy and Jola moved to the United States where they have been coaching.
Andy has been instrumental in developing and coaching successful T&T athletes who have won numerous State, Regional and National Championship titles. He was also coach to a member of the USA Team who competed at the 2007 World Age Group Championships in Quebec City, Canada.
Coach Leslie competed in Rhythmic Gymnastics for several years and has an extensive background in dance and performance arts. She has coached preschool, recreational and team level gymnastics, trampoline, tumbling, rhythmic gymnastics, and dance programs at several locations throughout Southern California. Her credentials include USA Gymnastics National Safety Certification, Level 1 Tumbling and Trampoline Coach Certification, Academy Coach Certification and Preschool Fundamentals; American Red Cross Adult, Infant, and Child CPR, and Community First Aid and Safety. She also maintains a USA Gymnastics Tumbling/Trampoline Professional Membership and is currently serving as Treasurer on the USA Gymnastics Southern California State Board for Tumbling and Trampoline. Additionally Leslie holds a Bachelors Degree in Business with a specialization in Operations and Production Management, and has three daughters involved in competitive gymnastics and trampoline programs.
