Various styles of dance in levels 1-4 and vocal technique classes are offered. Please see the front desk for more information on each style and level.
Jazz 1 Beg: this class is for the beginning dancer and provides an excellent introduction to Jazz Technique. This class focuses on classic jazz techniques such as pirouettes, leaps, kicks and upbeat choreography. Please see our dress code below for requirements.
Jazz/Contemporary 1.: This class is for the dancer with 1+ years of jazz or ballet training or someone who has graduated from our pre-jazz class curriculum. This 90 min. class was designed for the advanced beginner/intermediate dancer and focuses on classic jazz techniques such as pirouettes, leaps, kicks and upbeat choreography as well as more modern/contemporary movements. Jazz/Contemporary 2: this 90 min. class is for the dancer who has experience with ballet and/or Jazz for 2+ years and has completed our Jazz 1 curriculum and has either been moved up or approved by the dance director for the Jazz 2 level. More in-depth work on jazz technique across the floor and more advanced choreography in the modern/contemporary styles. Please see our dress code below for requirements.
Jazz/Contemporary 3: this 90 min. class is for the dancer who has experience with ballet and/or Jazz for 4+ years and has completed our Jazz 2 curriculum and has either been moved up or approved by the dance director for the Jazz 3 level. More in-depth work on jazz technique across the floor and more advanced choreography in the modern/contemporary style. Please see our dress code below for requirements.
Ballet 1 Beg: this 60 min. class if for the beginning dancer who has less than 1 year of experience with ballet. This class follows the syllabus from the Royal Academy of Dance and focuses on Tendus, battements, exercises for turn-out, ports de bras, petits jetés, directions of the body and poise. Ballet 1 Int. : this 90 min. class if for the beginning/intermediate dancer who has more than 1 year of experience with ballet and/or has complete our pre-ballet curriculum. This class follows the syllabus from the Royal Academy of Dance and focuses on Tendus, battements, exercises for turn-out, ports de bras, petits jetés, directions of the body and poise. Ballet 2: this 90 min. class if for the dancer who has experience with ballet for 2-3 years and has completed our Ballet 1 curriculum. This class follows the syllabus from the Royal Academy of Dance and focuses on Grand pliés in all positions, continues to master battements and tendues, glissés, Grand Battements, Changements, Ports de bras, Echappés, work in center floor, choreography and poise. Ballet 3: this 90 min. class if for the dancer who has experience with ballet for 4+ years and has completed our Ballet 2 curriculum. This class follows the syllabus from the Royal Academy of Dance and focuses on advanced ballet movements such as pirouette's, assemblés, fouettés, ballet choreography, work in center floor and poise. Pointe work is available in this class for approved dancers only ages 12+. Please see our dress code below for requirements.
Tap 1: this is a beginning tap class that focuses on teaching tap technique, rhythm, syncopation and timing. It is suggested to have completed the Pre-tap class or to have 6 months of tap experience. Please see our dress code below for requirements.
Tap 2: this is an intermediate class that focuses on tap technique, rhythm, and syncopation. You must have completed a tap 1 class and been suggested or approved for this level by the instructors. Please see our dress code below for requirements.
Hip Hop 1: This is a beginning hip hop class that teaches rhythm, coordination, music understanding and choreography to popular and age appropriate hip hop songs. Please see our dress code below for requirements.
Hip Hop 2: This is an intermediate class that teaches rhythm, coordination, music understanding and choreography to popular and age appropriate hip hop songs. This class moves at a faster pace then our hip hop 1. Please see our dress code below for requirements.
Lyrical 1: This class is a beginning introduction to contemporary movement and expression of music in jazz form. It is required to have 1 year of jazz experience and we suggest taking this class in addition to Jazz 1. Please see our dress code below for requirements.
Conditioning: This is a dance/pilates/yoga based fitness class that focuses on all the major muscles and increases flexibility. This class is designed to benefit our competitive Eclipse Dance Force members but is open to the entire Team OC dance program population.
