Classes designed to introduce the young dancer to the magical world of dance. Instruction in the basic ballet positions, tap sounds and jazz movement introduce children to the joy of creative movement, rhythm and music. Please see our dress code below for requirements.

MINI CLASSES

Ages 4-5 Years

 

Mini level classes in Jazz, Ballet, Hip-Hop and Pop Stars created for the dancer/ singer who has had one or more years of combination dance. These classes are geared for the more focused dancer who is ready to move on to a more in-depth study of Jazz, Ballet, Hip Hop or Pop Stars. Perfect for the future Eclipse Dance Force Dancer!

Mini Ballet is an hour long ballet class designed for the student who has experience in combination classes and is ready to move into a more detailed study of ballet. The class is designed to keep the 4 and 5 year old entertained and excited about the art of ballet. Please see below for dress code requirements.

Mini Jazz is an hour long jazz class designed for the student who has experience in combination classes and is ready to start working on jazz technique such as flexibility, turns and jumps. Please see below for dress code requirements.

Mini Hip Hop is an introductory hip hop class for the 4 and 5 year old student. This class is fun, fast-paced and a favorite among this age group.

PRE-DANCE CLASSES

Ages 6-7 Years

 

Pre-dance classes offered in either level 1 or 2 in Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop and Pop Stars. Level 1 classes are perfect for the beginning dancer while level 2 classes are designed to challenge our dancers who have had previous mini-level training. The goal of the pre-dance level is to teach our students the fundamentals of the various styles and to prepare them for the more serious and in-depth study of our leveled classes.

Pre-Jazz: this class is for the beginner dancer who wants to focus on jazz technique. This is a great class for our students who have out grown the combination class or graduated from our Mini Academy. We focus on classic jazz techniques including turns, kicks, leaps and choreography to upbeat music. Please see our dress code below for requirements.

Pre-Tap: this class is for the beginner dancer who wants to increase their tap technique in order to continue to the tap 1 level. The class focuses on learning tap terminology and steps will increase rhythm and musical interpretation.

Pre-Ballet: this class is for the beginner dancer who wants to train in ballet past the combination level. This is a preparatory class for ballet 1. This class follows the syllabus from the Royal Academy of Dancing . The 5 positions are taught and we focus on arm and foot placement, demi-pliés, sautés, spotting and révérence.

Pre-Hip Hop: this is an introductory hip hop class for ages 6-8. The students learn about the various styles of hip hop and work on rythm, timing and syncopation.

LEVELED CLASSES IN JAZZ, BALLET, TAP, HIP HOP, LYRICAL, BREAKING AND VOCAL TECHNIQUE

Ages 8-Adult

 

Various styles of dance in levels 1-4 and vocal technique classes are offered. Please see the front desk for more information on each style and level.

Jazz 1 Beg: this class is for the beginning dancer and provides an excellent introduction to Jazz Technique. This class focuses on classic jazz techniques such as pirouettes, leaps, kicks and upbeat choreography. Please see our dress code below for requirements.

Jazz/Contemporary 1.: This class is for the dancer with 1+ years of jazz or ballet training or someone who has graduated from our pre-jazz class curriculum. This 90 min. class was designed for the advanced beginner/intermediate dancer and focuses on classic jazz techniques such as pirouettes, leaps, kicks and upbeat choreography as well as more modern/contemporary movements. Please see our dress code below for requirements.

Jazz/Contemporary 2: this 90 min. class is for the dancer who has experience with ballet and/or Jazz for 2+ years and has completed our Jazz 1 curriculum and has either been moved up or approved by the dance director for the Jazz 2 level. More in-depth work on jazz technique across the floor and more advanced choreography in the modern/contemporary styles. Please see our dress code below for requirements.

Jazz/Contemporary 3: this 90 min. class is for the dancer who has experience with ballet and/or Jazz for 4+ years and has completed our Jazz 2 curriculum and has either been moved up or approved by the dance director for the Jazz 3 level. More in-depth work on jazz technique across the floor and more advanced choreography in the modern/contemporary style. Please see our dress code below for requirements.

Ballet 1 Beg: this 60 min. class if for the beginning dancer who has less than 1 year of experience with ballet. This class follows the syllabus from the Royal Academy of Dance and focuses on Tendus, battements, exercises for turn-out, ports de bras, petits jetés, directions of the body and poise. Please see our dress code below for requirements.

Ballet 1 Int. : this 90 min. class if for the beginning/intermediate dancer who has more than 1 year of experience with ballet and/or has complete our pre-ballet curriculum. This class follows the syllabus from the Royal Academy of Dance and focuses on Tendus, battements, exercises for turn-out, ports de bras, petits jetés, directions of the body and poise. Please see our dress code below for requirements.

Ballet 2: this 90 min. class if for the dancer who has experience with ballet for 2-3 years and has completed our Ballet 1 curriculum. This class follows the syllabus from the Royal Academy of Dance and focuses on Grand pliés in all positions, continues to master battements and tendues, glissés, Grand Battements, Changements, Ports de bras, Echappés, work in center floor, choreography and poise. Please see our dress code below for requirements.

Ballet 3: this 90 min. class if for the dancer who has experience with ballet for 4+ years and has completed our Ballet 2 curriculum. This class follows the syllabus from the Royal Academy of Dance and focuses on advanced ballet movements such as pirouette's, assemblés, fouettés, ballet choreography, work in center floor and poise. Pointe work is available in this class for approved dancers only ages 12+. Please see our dress code below for requirements.

Tap 1: this is a beginning tap class that focuses on teaching tap technique, rhythm, syncopation and timing. It is suggested to have completed the Pre-tap class or to have 6 months of tap experience. Please see our dress code below for requirements.

Tap 2: this is an intermediate class that focuses on tap technique, rhythm, and syncopation. You must have completed a tap 1 class and been suggested or approved for this level by the instructors. Please see our dress code below for requirements.

Hip Hop 1: This is a beginning hip hop class that teaches rhythm, coordination, music understanding and choreography to popular and age appropriate hip hop songs. Please see our dress code below for requirements.

Hip Hop 2: This is an intermediate class that teaches rhythm, coordination, music understanding and choreography to popular and age appropriate hip hop songs. This class moves at a faster pace then our hip hop 1. Please see our dress code below for requirements.

Lyrical 1: This class is a beginning introduction to contemporary movement and expression of music in jazz form. It is required to have 1 year of jazz experience and we suggest taking this class in addition to Jazz 1. Please see our dress code below for requirements.

Conditioning: This is a dance/pilates/yoga based fitness class that focuses on all the major muscles and increases flexibility. This class is designed to benefit our competitive Eclipse Dance Force members but is open to the entire Team OC dance program population.

Dress Code

This dress code is to be used as a guideline for all dance classes held at Team OC. Proper attire allows teachers to properly see the dancer's body placement. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Jazz, Lyrical, or Turns
Dance shorts (preferred) or jazz pants
Tights must be worn with shorts
Leotard or fitted top (no fashion tops allowed)
Black or tan jazz shoes
Hair pulled neatly away from face

Tap
Jazz pants or shorts
Tights must be worn with shorts
Leotard or camisole
Black Tap Shoes

Ballet
Black leotard
Pink ballet tights
Pink ballet shoes
Ballet skirt may be worn
Hair must be neatly pulled away from face in a secure bun

Hip Hop
Any style pants or sweats (no jeans are allowed)
Fitted top
